Change is Constant

We all know, even though we try to ignore it, that change happens all around us every day.  Change is constant!  Some times we are able to provide input, or maybe even influence big change.  But for all intents and purposes we have little control over change in our lives.

A big change in our lives is healthcare.  It was changing and then, because of COVID, many, many things have changed.  Some you may be aware of and some you may not be because they don’t affect you or your loved ones, yet.

Changes in Healthcare

Over the course of our lives, healthcare has had many changes due mostly to new technologies, but many changes have also come about due to our insurance policies.  One thing that we know is that because of some of these changes, many are opting out of hospital care and asking for home healthcare.  Some are being forced into these decisions because of healthcare.  In a way, I personally think it is all good as people generally heal better and faster when surrounded by their loved ones and the creature comforts of home. They also tend to suffer less from infections that can be spread around hospitals.

But change is constant.  So what you think today could be different by the time you need any care for yourself. If you think about it, home healthcare really didn’t exist at all 2 decades ago and even a decade

Change is Constant Even in Home Healthcare

ago it wasn’t what it is today.

I mean, think about it.  You can now be monitored at home by your doctor.  Test can be run from your home by a home healthcare practitioner and sent off to a lab.  Testing monitors can be run right from your home to enable your doctor to monitor you.

Change is Constant but How Can We Ensure Change Works for Us

Today I want to include an interesting study about the changing face of older adults and their healthcare needs.  It is a fact that primary care and community-based service providers are both needed to attend to these needs but it seems there can be issues as the two factions have differing views on care needs and implementation. This paper shows how one team was able to work together to accomplish the needs of the older adults by working together.  I think you will find it interesting.

Again, change is constant.  We must see through our differences to make change better for those who might be affected.  Kudos to those helping implement these kinds of changes that will impact the care of older adults who want to maintain their independence and their health.
